Cambridge Mongolia Seminar – report

On the 55th anniversary of UK-Mongolia diplomatic relations, The ‘Cambridge Mongolia Seminar’ was successfully organized by the Mongolia and Inner Asia Studies Unit in partnership with the Embassy of Mongolia to the United Kingdom. H.E. Mr. Tulga Narkhuu, Ambassador of Mongolia to the United Kingdom, opened the seminar and his speech highlighted the significance of the academic sphere and the sharing of research and thoughts.

The event, which took place on 5 December 2018 at the University of Cambridge, featured discussions on the pressing issues confronting Mongolia’s development, both domestically and internationally, and areas of mutual interest between Mongolia and the UK.

The seminar was organised into three main parts, 1) to analyse Mongolia’s problem of political leadership and the crisis of governance in Mongolia, 2) Geopolitics, Geoeconomics and Mongolia’s Strategies with regard to the changing geopolitical and geo-economic environment, and 3) the long–lasting Mongolia–UK cooperation in the field of Mongolian studies.

 

During the seminar Mongolian wood carving professional Mr. Ariunbayar Mijiddorj’s Mongolsexhibition was displayed. The culmination of 8 years of work, the pieces create stories about life and culture.
